Mike Coolbaugh was in his first season as the hitting coach for the Tulsa Drillers when he was struck in the neck by a foul ball while coaching 1st base on July 22, 2007. The ball, which is estimated to have been traveling over 100 mph, instantly killed Coolbaugh making him the only coach to ever die on the field in the history of baseball. Mike, who was only 35 years old, left behind 2 sons and a pregnant wife. Friends and family have organized this annual golf tournament as a way to remember the amazing man Mike was, and to help support his wife Mandy and their three children. All proceeds from the tournament and auction will go directly to the Coolbaugh family.
